You're getting married in Texas. Of course you have
questions, so
I've done my part and listed the most common questions couples have
below. What days and times are you open? Monday - Friday: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Saturday - Sunday: 9:00am - 9:00pm Are IDs required to be married? In Texas, you will need one valid form of id such as drivers license, certified copy of your birth certificate, U. S. passport, military ID card, and your Social Security number to get your marriage license. Do I have
to be a Texas resident to be married there? No. Classes are not required, however, they are recommended. According to Texas law, couples are encouraged to attend a premarital education course that covers important marital skills and issues such as conflict management and communication and that is at least eight hours duration. It must be finished during the year preceding your applying for a marriage license. Contact the county clerk for a roster of area course providers. Aside from the benefit of being better prepared for marriage, TwogetherInTexas.com states "Texas couples who complete a qualifying premarital education workshop will have $60.00 of the marriage license fee waived, as well as the 72-hour waiting period." I am recently divorced. Is there a waiting period before I can get married again? There is a 30 day waiting period, unless you have a certified copy of your divorce decree stating the 30 day waiting period is waived. What is the license fee? Most Texas counties charge $60 cash, but since fees can vary from county to county, I recommend you call to double-check the fees. Are there any blood tests required in Texas? Blood tests are not required. |

The Lone Star state is the largest continental state in the Union. Everything is better, bigger and badder in Texas, from the barbecue to the wedding bands. The natural beauty and urbanized splendor of this state blend together, offering visitors, residents and couples many different climates. Follow these instructions to get married in Texas. 1. Get a marriage license for the state of Texas. Bring your driver's license and birth certificates. 2. Choose a time of year. Depending on where you are in Texas, the weather may not change much. So, if the time of year isn't that important to you, consider having the ceremony in a wedding off season to keep costs down. 3. Decide on a location. Texas is a popular place for people to be married because of the grandiose feel of the state. Once you've decided on a location, reserve it for the date you want as quickly as possible. 4. Make the guest list. Start with your immediate families, next branch out to extended families and close friends. Keeping the guest list small is economical, but it can be extremely difficult. 5. Hire a professional to perform the ceremony. Many people prefer a clergy member they are familiar with, but a state official (like a justice of the peace) can perform the ceremony if you'd rather. |
